What To Put In A Wine Gift Basket {9 Items}
I included the following 9 items in my basket. Most items were purchased from Home Goods. I linked similar products available online, however, the products were generally more expensive.
1. Basket
I recommend a wire basket so you can easily see everything inside it. Also, opt for a basket that is ‘short’ and ‘wide’. A tall basket can get in the way of clearly seeing the items in your basket.
2. Wine
This probably comes as no surprise 🙂 I chose Da Vinci Chianti and Globerati Sangiovese for this basket. The first time I tried these wines was with my boyfriend for an Italian-Inspired Date Night At Home.
3. Wine Glasses
I recommend plastic stemless wine glasses to avoid the risk of glass breaking in the basket. These wine glasses from Target are so cute and only cost $2.
4. Marble Serving Board
This serving board from Bed Bath & Beyond comes monogrammed for only $11.
5. Dish Towels
I chose dish towels as a substitute for basket filler because dish towels are useful, and I typically find basket filler tacky lol.
6. Wine Glass Markers
Trust me, buy an extra package of wine glass markers for yourself 🙂 This way, when you’re sharing one with friends, you won’t lose track of your glass.
7. Wine Opener
Not only is a wine opener an essential item in a wine gift basket, but who can’t always use an extra?
8. Snacks
My favorite snacks to enjoy with wine are easily popcorn, chocolate, and gouda cheese. Other popular snacks to enjoy with wine are cured meats, mixed nuts, and crackers.
9. Bow
This red bow really pulls everything together. You could also wrap your basket in cellophane, as pictured above.
Other Wine Gift Basket Ideas
- A cordless electric wine bottle opener for other people like me, who still somehow manage to struggle with a traditional wine opener.
- A wine wars trivia game for true wine connoisseurs, or people that just really love wine and playing games.
- A state wine cork keepsake for the person that just keeps reminding you how great their home state is.
How To Make A Wine Gift Basket {4 Steps}
Step 1
Start by folding the dishtowels and placing them in the bottom of the basket. This will help stabilize the wine, glasses, and snacks.
Next, place a large bag of popcorn and a small serving tray along the back of the basket. Adding a ‘bold’ backing to your basket is essential.
Tie a large bow around your basket. You could also do this last, but I was excited 🙂
Step 2
Position two wine bottles in front of the serving tray.
Step 3
Next, fill the wine glasses with small chocolates and place them in front of the wine bottles. I chose Lindt Lindor milk chocolate truffles and Ghirardelli assorted squares.
Add an extra wine glasses in front of the popcorn.
Step 4
Lastly, add the wine markers, wine opener, and cheese.

Instructions
- Fold the dishtowels and place them in the bottom of the basket.
- Place a large bag of popcorn and a small serving tray against the back of the basket.
- Tie a large bow around the basket.
- Position 2 wine bottles in front of the serving tray.
- Fill the wine glasses with small chocolates.
- Place the wine glasses in front of the wine bottles.
- Add an extra bag of chocolate in front of the popcorn.
- Lastly, add the wine markers, wine opener, and cheese to fill in any empty space.
