Make sure to save this recipe just in case you find yourself craving candy cookie bars throughout the year!
As much as I love Halloween, thank goodness it only occurs once per year.
We always have so much leftover chocolate after the trick-or-treaters come.
Instead of letting the leftover candy sit around for months, I try to make a sweet treat with it that I can share with family and friends (usually for Friendsgiving!).
This year, it’s these loaded cookie bars.
In the past, I have created a candy trifle with leftover Halloween candy.

Equipment To Make Leftover Halloween Candy Cookie Bars
I always like to get my kitchen tools and equipment out in advance of preparing any recipe. Here’s what you need for these cookie bars:
How To Make Leftover Halloween Candy Cookie Bars
First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Next, place the Halloween candy in the freezer.
This will prevent the chocolate from melting when you chop it up later.
Then, add the cake mix, eggs, and oil to a large bowl.
Mix thoroughly.
The consistency of the dough will be thicker than cake batter, but thinner than traditional cookie dough.
Next, remove the chilled candy from the freezer, unwrap it, and chop it into bite-sized pieces.
Note: if you were super fast making the cookie dough (say 3-5 minutes), leave the candy in the freezer for 5-10 more minutes.
Next, fold 3/4 of the candy into the cookie dough.
Then, transfer the cookie dough into a 9″x13″ pan lined with parchment paper.
I recommend using the back of a spoon to ‘spread’ the dough across the entire pan.
Top with the remaining ¼ of candy.
Bake the cookies for about 45 minutes, or until the tops of the cookie bars are golden brown.
Remove the cookie bars from the oven.
Let the cookies cool completely in the pan before cutting into them (so they don’t lose their shape).
To remove the cookies from the pan, lift both sides of the parchment paper and transfer the cookies onto a cutting board or another flat surface.
I cut the cookies into 1″ squares, for a total of 24 cookie bars.
Feel free to make bigger bars though if you would like!
