Getting Started With These Halloween Brownie Ideas
As mentioned above, these Halloween brownies are made with a brownie mix and pre-colored frosting.
Of course, if you have the time or interest, you can totally swap your favorite homemade brownie and frosting recipe instead.
However, I find when I am working with a lot of colors and designs, a little help (like brownie mix and pre-colored frosting) goes a long way.
Products To Minimize Time and Maximize Fun
The following products are truly a game-changer when it comes to decorating Halloween brownies:
Wilton Rainbow Icing Decorating Set
I love decorating cookies, cakes, and brownies with colored frosting.
I don’t love the time it takes to get the color just right or all the dishes it requires.
This icing set removed both of those worries.
Because the Wilton set doesn’t include black icing, I ordered that up separately.
Brownie Pan With Built-In Slicer
If you made my American Flag Brownie recipe, or just have ever cut brownies before, you know cutting brownies is time-consuming and tedious.
This pan made it such a breeze.
The brownies were prepped, baked, cooled, and cut in under an hour.

Halloween Brownies: Tips
Halloween is the perfect time to bring some spooky fun into your dessert cuisine, and what could be more delightful than brownies for Halloween? Here are some essential tips to make your Halloween brownies a spook-tacular success:
- Choosing Your Brownie Mix: Whether you’re using a boxed brownie mix or you’re keen on making homemade brownies from scratch, ensure that you pick a brownie recipe that is rich in flavor. If you’re in a hurry, a boxed brownie mix can work wonders, especially when enhanced with additional chocolate chips or cocoa powder.
- Preparation is Key: Before diving into the baking process, make sure you have all the necessary ingredients from the baking aisle. This includes Halloween candy like candy corn and Halloween sprinkles to make your brownies extra festive. Prepare your pan by lining it with parchment paper to ensure your brownies don’t stick and for easier removal.
- Spooky Decorations: Elevate the fun by experimenting with different Halloween desserts. Think mummy brownies using cream cheese or pumpkin brownies for a seasonal touch. Don’t forget to decorate with candy eyes for that extra eerie look. And if you’re throwing a Halloween party, ghost brownies can be so much fun for the kids to both make and eat!
- Cool Before Decorating: Once baked, ensure your brownies cool completely on a cooling rack. This ensures that when you decorate, the chocolate frosting or other toppings don’t melt away.
- Variations and Ideas: Halloween is all about creativity. Dive into various recipe ideas such as chocolate brownies with a hint of pumpkin or add a spooky treat twist by using Halloween-specific molds. The fun of making Halloween brownies lies not just in the baking but in the decorating too!
- Store Properly: If you’ve made a batch in advance or have leftovers from your Halloween party, store your brownies in an airtight container. This keeps them fresh and delicious for days.
Remember, baking should be both fun and delicious. Whether you’re making these brownies with kids or whipping up a batch for an easy Halloween treat, the goal is to enjoy the process and create delightful memories. Happy baking and happy Halloween!
