This Patriotic Dessert Charcuterie Board includes cookies, brownies, chocolate-covered pretzels, Oreos, and more! It’s perfect for just about any patriotic event: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Veteran’s Day.
Patriotic Dessert Charcuterie Board
IT’S ALMOST SUMMERTIME. Well, not technically, but Memorial Day is right around the corner, which essentially kicks off summer in my book.
I can’t wait for all of the backyard barbeques, wineries, beach weekends, ice cream, and fireworks.
Since Memorial Day is almost here, I decided to make a patriotic dessert board.
It’s safe to say that this red, white, and blue dessert charcuterie board will also be served at my Independence Day and Labor Day parties.
Patriotic Dessert Charcuterie Board Recipes
This Patriotic Dessert Board includes:
- Firework Chocolate-Covered Pretzels
- Red, White, and Blue Chocolate-Covered Oreos
- Star-Shaped Sugar Cookies With Royal Icing
- American Flag Brownies
- Hershey’s Kisses and Lindor Truffles
1. Firework Chocolate-Covered Pretzels
These firework chocolate-covered pretzel rods are so festive and only take 15 minutes to make! They would also be the perfect sweet and salty addition to a ‘classic’ patriotic charcuterie board (not dessert-focused).
Ingredients
Instructions
- First, line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Next, melt the chocolate in separate microwave-safe bowls, according to package instructions.
- Dip the pretzel rods in melted dark chocolate.
- Drizzle melted red chocolate over the rods using a fork.
- Next, drizzle melted white chocolate over the rods with a different fork.
- Lastly, top with sprinkles before the chocolate hardens.
2. Red, White, and Blue Chocolate-Covered Oreos
Similar to the firework chocolate-covered pretzel rods above, these Oreos are so festive and only take 15 minutes to make!
Ingredients
Instructions
- First, line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Next, melt the chocolate in separate microwave-safe bowls, according to package instructions.
- Dip the Oreos in melted dark chocolate.
- Drizzle melted red chocolate over the Oreos using a fork.
- Next, drizzle melted white chocolate over the Oreos with a different fork.
- Lastly, top with sprinkles before the chocolate hardens.
3. Star-Shaped Sugar Cookies With Royal Icing
Per usual, I followed Handle the Heat’s Sugar Cookie Recipe and Patti Paige’s Royal Icing Recipe.
I generally don’t need a full batch of sugar cookies or royal icing for my cookie trays, so I typically freeze half of the cookie dough and cut the royal icing recipe in half.
While I stuck to simple, star cookies, you could substitute other cookie cutters like these patriotic cookie cutters or these USA cookie cutters.
If you are new to working with royal icing, don’t be intimidated! I promise after your first time working with royal icing, you will be much more confident. Also, be sure to check out my guide in my Fiesta Sugar Cookie post.
However, if you want to cut back on homemade recipes for your patriotic dessert board, you could substitute store-bought red and blue frosted sugar cookies.
4. American Flag Brownies
I had leftover brownies from my American Flag Brownies and thought they would be a perfect addition to my Patriotic Dessert Board. These brownies are made with a box mix, so they are quick and oh-so fudgy 🙂
