Substitutions
There are so many ways to customize this recipe based on dietary restrictions or what you have at home. Here are my four favorites, detailed below:
- Ground Turkey
- Shredded Chicken
- Veggie
- Brunch
Ground Turkey
Swap ground beef for the same amount of ground turkey or ground beef. The instructions in the recipe card below do not change.
Shredded Chicken
Swap ground beef for the same amount of shredded chicken. The instructions in the recipe card below do not change. I pretty much always have shredded chicken in my refrigerator for salads or quesadillas so this is one of my easiest substitutions.
Veggie
Substitute ground beef for sautéd peppers and onions. Make the following adjustments to the recipe card below:
- Omit ‘beef mixture’ ingredients
- Skip ‘prepare the beef mixture’ instructions
- Sauté 3 bell peppers and 2 medium yellow onions in a large skillet over medium heat with 2 4tbsp of olive oil. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the peppers are soft and the onions are translucent.
Brunch
This substitution is my favorite for an all-day Super Bowl party! I also made this at home with my family for Thanksgiving 2020. Make the following adjustments to the recipe card below:
- Use half of the beef mixture ingredients.
- Make the egg mixture: Sauté 1 medium diced onion and 1 bell pepper in a large skillet over medium heat with 2 tbsp of olive oil. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes. Add 10 large eggs that have been beaten to the skillet. Season again with salt and pepper. Cook the eggs. This is the other half of your crunch wrap supreme 🙂
